- Vigor
does not come from your energy level - it comes from your determined
pursuit of something
- A
vigorous pursuit of the Lord does not mean bounding out of bed
in the morning and reciting the whole Bible on the way to the
bathroom. Pursuing Him with vigor simply means not deviating
from the course, and taking affirmative action to touch Him,
hear from Him, and obey Him.
In today's modern world,
it seems to have eluded many that He already initiated, and we
must respond. Often believers sit passively, waiting for God
to carry the whole relationship, when in fact, He has made it
clear that He expects us to follow, pursue, come after Him.
That cannot be done to the exclusion
of a daily devotional time - a time when the Christian speaks
to the Lord - outloud. This time must include feeding on the
Word. There cannot be deviation from this routine.
In an age when it is not cool to
do things the old- fashioned way, there are a zillion devotional
books to make the believer feel like he has had devotions when
he has read something nice.
I am here to tell you that if you
are reading a devotional book, it had better be something confrontational,
and not platitudinal.
God is calling, calling, calling.
And many are stuck in the mud.
Sing to Him. Pray outloud. Memorize
a verse. If you think you have more important things to do, you
are very, very wrong.
