low on firepower? The "old man" has energy for self, but not a scrap of ability to give unless there is something in return. That is what makes it so hard to fake it. There is no reserve. When a believer is living in the Spirit, he doesn't need reserve, because the Lord is infinite and not only does the Lord not need reserve, but neither does the one who depends on Him. In a world that constantly clamors for control and predictability, God's people must apply the Word first so that the old man does not get a crack. Once you start flicking your tank, you are off. We must learn to lean. Leaning and surrendering combine to make a life of faith - one which the old man can not survive and the new man can not live without. |
