It is
critically important to sing unto the Lord a new song. Do you know what that means? He makes it different for each believer, and if someone tells you just how to come up with a "new song", it is already an old one. The Psalmist is speaking of a spontaneous expression of the heart that has not been dreamed up by human mind nor expressed before by human tongue. At the same time it might be savoring the words to "The Old Rugged Cross" in tandem with the moving of the Holy Spirit. Newness is something that originates in heaven. It refreshes the heart of the worshiper and is as different in expression as is each saint in personality. These things are sought in prayer. If you ask the Lord today what this means, chances are good that if you drop the request tomorrow, you weren't really that interested. The expression of newness in Christ and resulting worship comes only to and through those who have sought it hard and for a long time. It is not a suggestion, it is commanded. "Sing unto the Lord a new song". . . |
