You are not
in a position to see how valuable your life is. If you are in the public eye, fame can seduce you into feeling you have a significant impact. If you live in seeming obscurity, the lack of evidence can sell the illusion of a wasted life. What makes a life one worth living? Being available to the Lord for anything He wants. That means letting go of our own aspirations and longings in order to gain the things that are not visible on earth and that have the most value in heaven. During the early period of the Billy Graham Crusades there was a widow lady who went early to each town, rented a motel room, and prayed before and during the designated week. She was unflagging and although she never shared the public limelight, she will most definitely share in the heavenly reward. Tens of thousands of Christians whose names we will not hear until heaven have been in insane asylums and prisons for most of their lives. Only the unseen hosts know of the effectiveness of these, chosen to receive special grace in situations we can not imagine. Moody was a shoe salesman in Boston when a customer paid a fleeting visit to the store where he worked. The man told Moody how to receive Christ and then left. We do not know his name today. But if he told the Good News to Moody, I guarantee it was not an isolated event. Pick yourself up and put on the armor. What difference is it to you how many decorations you earn or wear in this life? Isn't your battle assignment up to God? You don't need mobility or energy or college degrees to serve the Lord. You don't need youth or charisma or to be free of your current situation. You need the Holy Spirit, and He fills anyone who is available! |
