The
reason for God's telling Moses to take his shoes off because he was on holy
ground has been a subject of much speculation and many have differing opinions. But it really doesn't matter - he wasn't going anywhere anyway, so we don't have to know all the implications. Once you have really met God and have heard Him call your name, you are not going anywhere else. Christians who have really been with Him don't go somewhere because of a better job or get divorced because they don't think they are in love any more. They don't work overtime to gain financial security and they don't run around looking for entertainment. Instead, they go where the Lord is, and they stay in painful situations for the privilege of identifying with His sufferings if He asks them to. They work overtime to support missions and to give to the needy and they are repelled by the forms of frivolity that are not compatible with the Holy Spirit. There can be nothing between the soles of their feet and the holy ground. They have come to a place where wandering is permanently abolished and the King of Kings speaks through divine fire. |
