Many, many times,
the thing must be done in obedience to God's Word, and then the
Lord will make resolution visible, using time as a ripening vehicle Most of us will admit we do not have all the answers. When situations arise that demand action or intervention, it is often tempting to do nothing and take a passive posture to avoid someone's displeasure. And most of the time, when you know the reaction will be unpleasant, it is because the offender has taken a vector opposite from rightness, and something must be stopped. The momentum that sin has will slam into something, and that something will probably be you. But like disciplining children, dealing with these uncomfortable situations brought about by those out of tune with the Lord will cause an immediate eruption, but the eruption does not matter, and knowing it is coming should not deter you from doing the right thing. On occasion I have been floored to find that years later, the Lord has honored the move made (out of weakness and while feeling like a jerk) according to His Word. More than once, someone has been born again because of firmness taken years earlier, or when sight has been given to the sinner years later, there has been one of those beautiful situations where "he who is forgiven much loves much". Our days and our nights must be spent in pursuit of God - and that cannot happen through compromise. It is love that compels us to do what we must, and we are empowered because of the Holy Spirit within, and not because we are insightful or skilled. When the thing has been presented in prayer, follow the Lord's leading, and then let it go - in prayer. The Lord will take care of the rest. |
