We must teach our children
to recover the ground. When a child is born again, he must learn that he cannot operate like the rest of the world. This does not come about merely by Christian education, but by training that places him on his knees to do serious business with God when he has sinned. The thing that is difficult is that it is a ministry of death to anyone when they are told they "must march to your room right now and repent for your sins." The relationship with the Lord needs to be just that - a relationship with the Lord. We can receive teaching, but noone, old or young can dictate or control another's actual interaction with the Lord. It is appropriate to teach and discuss it in the family altar. the honest and humble sharing of one's own experiences always makes an impression on others - especially children. Our children need to hear that they must approach the Lord with clean hands, lifted up as the Psalmist says. How do we do this? We ask daily to see Jesus. And we obey the Word of the Lord that says that His Commandments should never depart from our mouths. In other words, we should never stop talking about it. Noone wants to be around someone who is always preachy. Sharing is great, and we must have anointed techers for our children. We have gotten incredibly watery in our Sunday Schools. Light dispels darkness. We don't have to panic and spend all our time fighting sinon the public front. We must teach our children to know the Lord intimately, and spend our energy and time revealing Jesus to a lost world! |
