Roll
away, roll away, roll away; Every burden of my heart rolled away. . . Remember this Sunday school song? We sang it and sang it - actually, we still do. It surely is out of context until the next part: Every sin had to go 'Neath the crimson flow. . . When I was saved I experienced tremendous relief, not only because I was out from under eternal condemnation, but because the weight of sin and all that comes with it was GONE Then I lived another hour, and another hour, and another hour. I began to have little weights sticking on like bothersome barnacles. When I realized the Bible taught that confession and repentance must be a habit, then and only then did I begin to have the lasting experience of my salvation from sin. Ever notice that often Christians are incredibly messed up? Worry is sin. Manipulation is sin. Any form of controlling others or trying to control God is sin. Bitterness is sin. Frustration is sin. Does the list ever end? No. Why? Because this is not a self-help program, it is grace, and I must live the same way I was saved - coming to Grace by faith, and letting Him take the burden! |
