Go ahead - fire away! Give it your best shot - I've been criticized before, I'll be criticized again! I could take that attitude, and actually I have tried it, but the Holy Spirit won't let a believer stay in that place. Christians seem to think there are two ways to handle negative comments: acting like there is no effect, or telling the commentator that they will have to account to God, and holding the person in contempt. I don't have a super-duper answer, but I do know that criticism and negative comments are among the most difficult things to deal with in our lives. During a time of great difficulty and public attack on my activities, an older woman friend of mine wrote me a note. At the end of the note she said, " Ardith, be sure to receive flattery, accolades, and negative criticism all in the same way." I have often thought of that note, and I have learned to pray that way.
