The thing
in which you are tempted is not so uncommon as you think. Yes, you are the
only you, but satan's repertoire is limited, and you will not be tempted
beyond your ability to obey the Word of God. Don't forget, time is short, and eternity cannot be measured by the word long. It is testing that purifies the divine gold. You have not fallen because you are tempted, you are fallen when you fall! Tell the Lord the problem. Tell Him outloud. Don't give up. Pursue the matter in prayer, and if the feeling of helplessness remains, behave in faith. You alone decide what your faculties will be used for. The Blood of Jesus has given you the right to claim all that is yours in Christ. But this right cannot be appropriated apart from honesty with Him, and a yieldedness in prayer. Take the Bible for what it is - He has spoken. He has answered. It is the Word of God. You will be fine. This is a test of dependence. John the "disciple of love" (formerly one of the "sons of thunder" ) is recorded as having "leaned on Jesus' breast". We need to learn to lean on Him . He is strong and we are weak. Get it straight now; In this life, that is not going to change! |
