When a costume designer/maker wants
to make a new garment look old and worn, he will put it into
a monkey cage. The monkeys wreck havoc on it and shortly it looks
like it just came off the back of a nomad camel herdsman after
a very long journey. Do you know what the process is called? Worry. That is the real definition. Worry sneaks up on us in many guises: responsibility, cloaked love, organization, fear that feels normal, and just plain habit. The Bible, however, says that worry interferes with the process of faith, and must be done away with. That's hard, isn't it! The things that we have always done naturally feel just that - natural. But we were created to rest in Him; to cast our cares upon Him and learn what it means to be dependent. Worry is simply a form of control, and the first step to obedience is always in recognizing disobedience. We teach our Sunday School children this song: Why worry, when you can pray? Trust Jesus - He'll be your stay. Don't be a doubting Thomas, Rest fully on His promise! Why worry, worry, Worry, worry- When you can pray! |
