- Remember
that often when the victory is won, the soldier on the battlefield
may not know it for a while.
The One in command has perspective, and
the soldier knows only what is given to him to know.
At the moment of the commander's
jubilant victory, the soldier can look around and see bodies,
blood and ruin. He cannot see the whole picture, and even
though he is engaged in the pressing battleand the victory is
being won, he is tired, hungry, dirty, and the scene before him
will not change miraculously into something pristine.
Yet, there has been a victory.
What a tremendous victory there
was in heaven when Job would not speak against the Lord - yet,
Job suffered and looked to all like a total looser.
Yes, God gave him back much
more than He allowed to be taken away, but Job did not know the
future, and did not endure the agony because he knew it would
be better soon.
He just trusted that
God was God.
When you peel away
all the cover-ups, we are all simple people. We move forward
in obedience, as best we can and we trust the Lord to settle
the dust.
The dust doesn't settle
because of anything we do, it settles because of gravity, and
we have nothing to do with that.
He only knows the future,
and He only knows what is really happening now."
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture." And we
go where the Shepherd leads us.
The very thing that is so
desperately painful and we would give all to avoid - that same
thing is part of a great victory in heaven.
Remember the Cross?
