- The Cross
never feels good - after all, it is the place of the death
of the flesh.
It can, however be accompanied
by a witness that the believer needs the experience, whatever
it is.
This week in our women's
Bible study, an older saint was sharing about a wrenching heartache
in her life. she has followed and served the Lord all these years,
and at this time in her life, she has been blindsised by an incredible
injustuce.
But her words were: "We
have sung about the Cross and heard preaching about the Cross
all our lives, but this is the first time we have experienced
it."
That was a thrill for me to hear,
because her words were not those of seeking only escape - rather
they were words of a servant who recognized the Cross and claimed
it as a privilege.
Don't misunderstand - she
doesn't like what is happening, and the happenings are not Godly
and much work in prayer must be done. But those words yielded
to the sovereignty of God.
No wonder the Psalmist says
"Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His saints."
