Many things that God has for us are
for our taking and we miss out by wanting Him to do both initiating and
responding.
We act as though we are on iron lungs and
everything must be done for us. W want to feel like praying and
the we want to have a good time while we are doing it. If we don't have
some kind of gooey experience we think we have not prayed in the best
way.
We wait until we feel like
reading the Bible, and then when we get sleepy, we decide we
can't read any more because we "just can't stay awake."
The worst trap is when we don't
love others because we don't feel loving.
God has initiated to us through
His Son. We have been saved. Rescued. We are not our own - right?
Can we agree with Him on that?
When we establish that (and it should be
established in prayer each day - out loud) then we must acknowledge
that initiation requires response. The response that the Lover of our
Soul wants is obedience.
That puts a different slant
on feeling. We have been polluted by psychology.
As long as my body will respond
to my brain, I WILL BE FOUND to be doing the things that I have
been told to do. It is not so hard. And besides, I have the indwelling
Holy Spirit to counsel, empower, and give sight.
We can not live as do the
unsaved. We must CHANGE!! They are blind, but we are sighted.
