- I like to
pound away at certain themes in Sunday School.
One of them is solidness.
There is a beautiful stability
that is built when Christians decide to live and walk
in obedient behavior on a moment by moment, practical basis.
It is possible to feel elated one moment and heartbroken the
next, but to still honor the One to whom we have decided to yield,
and choose to take the behavior clearly taught in the Word of
God.
It is all about obedience - immediate,
unquestioning, all-encompassing obedience.
The most difficult area for most
folks is in the giving of grace to jerks. Another rough one is
the handling of criticism.
Shall we go on?
- There is
a brick-upon-brick solidness that is established in the believer
who decides to adopt this vector. This behavior of obedience
takes place in prayer before it is exercised, and is fueled by
the Word.
Grace loves us in spite of
our disobedience, but it is permissiveness that makes excuses.
And Grace is not permissive!
