If I did things
my way, I would certainly not gain Christ by trials, and I would
most definitely reject the fiery trial!. I would study hard and take many tests. I would save all my money and invest it in heaven's stock. I would carry a megaphone and yell all day long about the things that are true. But I would never, never go the trial route. The One who gave His life as a ransom for many put Himself on display before all mankind and the unseen world. Yes, it was at the point of fullness of time, and yes it was to provide redemption, and yes, it was to fulfill the Scriptures. But His manner of life and death was to show us the value of submission and the way of the Cross. Why? Because one cannot find Life through written exams or wise spending and saving, or loud declarations. We find Him by doing absolutely all things His way, and the painful part is it is only learned by submission. Submission is only learned in the active making of choices that are not comfortable for the flesh. Submission can be taught to look up, in order to see beyond the immediate. Submission is the nature of the King of Glory, and He demonstrated it in every second of His life here on earth. What dazzling love! What unity! What a compelling call! |
