In all the things
that happen to and around you, there is nothing that takes away
your power to choose your attitude. The Lord has made implicitly clear what the Christian soldier's attitude is to be about absolutely everything. In contrast, one of the things so difficult for many who suffer is the fact that they feel helpless, and consequently anger, fear, and hopelessness overwhelm them. This is a great opportunity to point out that the secret to this topic is the Word of God, and its power in the heart and life of the believer. "Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee. ." Is there power? Christians today are over educated when it comes to having their own needs served. If they are insulted, or if they are unhappy in their marriages, counselors tell them how to work things out in order to alleviate the situation. The big problem is, that's not scriptural. Your discomfort is caused by your own reactions and attitude unless the problem is physical - and even then, an obedient attitude can turn pain into a sweet revelation of Jesus. (Read Amy Carmichael's "Rose from Briar".) When we received Christ, we were born into another Realm - "the Kingdom of Light", the "Kingdom of His Dear Son", and we have the indwelling Holy Spirit. That means we have choice. Even when it doesn't feel like it, God's Word is more real Than the way that you feel! |
