We readily sing about
the availability of the Lord to bear all our sins and griefs,
but I have met very few Christians who have really considered
this issue. We were not designed to carry our own burdens alone, and as a matter of fact, we cannot. He has made it clear that we are to take an affirmative action resulting in the giving up of the load of worry, sin, and guilt. It isn't something you can teach with chalk and a blackboard - it needs to happen from the heart and in a private time with the Lord. It should be out loud. We can think about it all day, and marinate in good intentions. But until there is that sweet time where He is told we need Him and rely on His declaration that we can "cast our cares upon him", there will be no release. Often when I go to the Lord to obey in this area, I finish feeling no better. But before I know it, I have forgotten the matter, and my soul is light again. I don't go to prayer expecting God to make me feel better, rather I go to prayer expecting Him to stand behind His own Word. He has never, never ignored me. |
