There is a breathless
openness that the Christian must have if he is to see Jesus. The Lord does only the unexpected, and, of course, that is the thing that we are to look for and expect! It's just that we don't know what to expect - only who! Our limited notions prepare us for only the things or events we have heard about or experienced, and small flutterings of what He might do pass us by, because we tend to remain rigidly patting the foot in impatience. We often mistake maturity for settledness. The settled believer is usually cemented in either content or discontent, and he is so familiar with it, he cannot be budged. So, our lack of alertness, and our posture of superiority often eliminate us from heaven's best. He is still building arks, bringing down walls of strongholds, healing the sick, and causing the blind to see. He is never passive. And He never, never hides from us. |
