What does it
take to fire people up spiritually? What will bring a real revival? First of all, it will take God's appointed and anointed preacher who is prayed into that point in time by others, and it will take a move of the Holy Spirit, also brought by prayer. Many major revivals in the past have been prayed in by just a few - maybe two or three women, faithful in prayer, and usually the revivals come when those who have begged for it have gone to be with the Lord. So often we splash in sincere feelings, wanting others to be stimulated. But the truth is, if we knew we would not be around to see the results, we would not bother to pray. Those who long for the presence of God in the hearts of others will pray no matter what. They will pray for the next generation, they will pray for a dying church, they will pray for a neighborhood. The Bible teaches that all prayer touches the heart of God and is granted. That means that we are often making utterances, but seldom praying. Oh, that we might learn to recoil from passionate need to see our own effectiveness, and plunge into desperate prayer for a lost world, and a couch potato Church |
