At one
point, the rest of Israel was fighting with the Benjamites, and
they were in the right. When the Benjamites were defeated, the victors went out to find women for them, since all their women had been slain. It was business. God's business. The battle was like God, and the restoration was like God. Was the restoration better than the battle? It probably felt better, but in God's economy, both were equal under His sovereignty. As much as we know, we still seem to think things are better when the battle is not raging. That is because we still live in time and operate in time for eternity, and the Lord lives in eternity, and operates in eternity through time. Brothers, give God room, and learn to see who the enemy is. The enemy is not the human against whom you engage in battle. The enemy is the one who motivates and consumes ungodly behavior. A battle that defeats the offender can also be a rescue. Our thinking is twisted and we see things backward. Each moment is of equal value. Life is to be spent, not according to guess and the priority of doing good. But life is to be spent looking and watching to see where Jesus is, and then doing whatever it takes to be there. That may mean some blood, and it may mean some death. But it will definitely mean glory! |
