There is
no such thing as partial commitment.
If one is not committed, his participation
springs from something else - an odd form of control.
I often meet Christians who go
to lots and lots of meetings, but they are using the environment
to regulate their lives, and there is a ferocious grasp on everything
within reach.
We are not committed to Christ
until He is our personal King as well as our personal Savior.
It seems to be a tough road for
many, and although stories of the faithful stimulate, they rarely
stir deep desire to give up all and follow Him.
Commitment means an irreversible
momentum in the direction of the Cross.
Commitment means I have decided
to give up what others think of me.
Commitment means neither my body
nor my pocketbook will decide my schedule.
Commitment means His Word in my heart
is more important than the gravitational pull of laziness.
I'll shout it before
all the seen and the unseen worlds:
I
have decided to follow Jesus-
No
turning back!
