When Gideon
first asked God for assurance that He was really God, he
was answered by the producing of fire. There was no question because that was what God did. Fire is not noisy, nor is it purple or rainbow colored. It does not do odd things like sing or heal anyone, but it burns. It burns what is burnable, and God's fire burns what is not burnable. That is how Gideon knew. He did not produce the fire, and it burned something that could not naturally burn. God is still in the business of revealing Himself, and He does it in the same way. He sets ablaze that which would not normally burn. I can honestly say, that is what happened to me when I asked Him if He was real - just like Gideon! The Lord is just as ready today as He was then, but rare is the Christian who is really available to burn for Him. We are soft, and we need to be changed. There is a holy fire waiting to fall on those who will ask and who will wait. Those believers will taste the Victory. Those believers will witness Glory. Those believers will see Jesus. |
