Walking in the
light gives sight . A phenomenon characteristic of those still in the dark, is that they are not aware that they can't see. As a matter of fact, they cannot be convinced of that, so there is no point in wasting energy trying. When the Lord reveals Himself to someone, he shows Himself. There is recognition and the individual does not need to be persuaded that he is seeing God. Emotional experiences, on the other hand, can come from different sources, and that individual is held captive by his emotions and addicted to the experience, but he still cannot see. A person who has been taught who God is and who thinks he knows all the deep mysteries and spiritual insights is still in the dark. He has an even bigger problem because often this person has sharp natural insight into super-natural things. But when the Lord who is The Light comes, the one touched by Him sees things clearly and sees that they are simple. He cannot be talked into or out of anything, but is available to whatever is recognizable in the same light. The only real experience of God comes with light, and although He is approached by faith and responded to by faith, when the encounter happens, there is no question. Love creates a capacity to see, prayer goes before and prepares the way, and grace brings the dawn. |
