Under the
laws of the sea, salvage of the vessel reaps a reward, but if
the vessel is not salvaged, saving the lives of the sailors does
not merit an award.
Look around.
That law is a realistic reflection
of the world. And unfortunately, even the Christian world.
Yes, there are many in "ministry" but most are concerned
with the building, sailing, and salvage of the vessel, rather
than the hearts and souls of men.
That is the reason there are so
many who know so much, but are so miserable. They are floundering
in a sea of teaching, activity, and shallow music.
Where Jesus really is, the
lives are the only reason for salvage - not the vessel,
not the cargo.
One of the least practiced principles
in the Church today is the leaving of the ninety and nine for
the sake of the one lost sheep.
Lord, please,
please, protect me from attachment to the vessel. I want so much
to be allowed to participate in the rescue effort. I want to
love the ones you died for - the ones you now intercede for.
Please let me see as you see, and teach me to pray in such a
way that I can discern between the need and the seductiveness
of earthly reward.
