The flesh
can not improve - that is what the Lord meant when He said that a leopard
can not change its spots. This is of the utmost importance and it must be kept before us constantly as we go through the days of our lives. It is much too easy to slide through the day on skill and experience, and although the tower will topple eventually, the flesh dies hard and will prove to exhibit great acting power if the Holy Spirit is not allowed to lead. Joshua certainly found this to be true when Israel's enemies came, disguising themselves as foreigners in order to cause Israel to disobey and compromise. They had props and were good actors. The leaders relied on their own perceptions, and the Bible says ". . . and they did not consult the Lord. . ." Guess what happened! Our reliance is the admission of our own inability to move and breathe without Him. Until we eagerly confess this fact, there will be little sight and less victory. |
