Danger! Danger! Watch your tongue when speaking about others, particularly brothers and sisters in Christ. In heaven we will find ourselves accountable for each word we have spoken, and here, much damage can be caused by a careless tongue. If, for example, you can be stirred up against someone else, you will have a need to see that person do what you think he should do, or want to see him punished for the way he is. You will not even realize it, but it will eat at you. This is something that satan tries all the time, and the believer must be aware and watch for it. I may not lend my mouth to nasty little comments about others. It is one thing to pray with someone about a real problem a brother or sister is having, but it is another matter to utter arrogant statements about that person or any aspect of his life. Love doesn't last long under those circumstances, much less thrive. Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners. And although grace is not mushy and blind, love believes the best, and does cover a multitude of sins. |
