The natural
man wants to be liked by all and wants to be agreed with. Isn't it interesting that those who are filled by the Spirit of God must learn to say and do what God says, and let the dust fall where it may. Walking with the Lord means that the choice has already been made. Our priorities have been set, and it is time to be separated from some of the things that have such a velvety attraction. Why then are we so surprised when we make what we know are right choices and someone is upset with us? It's rough, but the new man has the power that the old man didn't. Not only will we live through the misunderstanding, but there is reward for obedience. Furthermore, we find that as time goes on and we are willing to say the thing that ought to be said, even though we know we might be resented or disliked, there is a deep healing that takes place. It is the healing of the old wound that craves the salve of approval. Those who understand the Holy Spirit speaks through willing mouths and who are willing to say the hard thing even though the cost is great - those folks will never be motor-mouths with preachy, superior attitudes. The message is always simple and the messenger never gets the credit, although he may get the blame temporarily. There is great freedom in allowing the Lord to move as He sees fit. Then, and only then, can we enter in to the protection afforded to those who are willing to step out of the entanglement of human approval. |
