"To him
that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin." Wow! that sounds harsh. But it isn't - it's just true. When we were born again we were given a new conscience, and this time the conscience was sensitized to the Holy Spirit. A Soldier of the Cross does not need a flaming telegram to know when something must be done. The test? It can't be self-seeking, it is not manipulative, and it is for the sake of the edification of the other party. The "good" spoken of is always clear - avoiding a disobedient act or encouraging another - in God's economy, passivity ranks along with known sin . The reason this verse is sweet to the one who follows hard after the Lord is due to his focus - he must learn that the Holy Spirit is given to pave the way, and to amplify the presence of Jesus. It's not about me - it's about Him! |
