Adults who
were not really loved as children tend to be extremely defensive.
They spend much energy reasoning
that they are not wrong, and when it is undeniable that they
have been wrong, they tend to explain all the reasons and circumstances
for thing not done or the thing done badly.
As we get to know the Lord and
experience grace, the defensiveness drops from our lives. The
more defensive a Christian is, the more sin he is splashing in.
And when he finally begins to see Jesus instead of his own need
for survival, he no longer needs the gravity of his own reason
to pet his flesh, but rather gazes in awe at the one Who adores
him.
That is transforming power!
