The problem
with the Doctrine of "God's will", is that Christians
are taught (and for some amazing reason believe) that the Lord
will let you know His whole "blueprint for your life". It's not going to happen. What's more, the only time Jesus was asked about "God's will", He said it was to "know the One whom He has sent". The whole Bible is full of the message that the Lord will give us the next step, and that is probably all we will have today. Why do you want too know, anyway? So you will know? That's only for security, and that doesn't wash with God! He wants someone who will follow, not someone who wants to pitch a tent and build a fence. Young Christians should Fast and pray in order to know God's choice for a mate. but it has to be to please the Lord and be able to serve Him by laying down the life - most definitely not to insure a mate that will bring happiness. How is this for seeking God's will: "Oh Lord, point out to me the mate who you can use to force the deepest, most needed changes in me, and who I may learn to obediently serve unconditionally in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit." Now, that's a Soldier of the Cross looking for the will of God! |
