His grace is
not equal to my sin. It is greater. That is an easy fact to forget. Most of us sing little songs that are not really true -"He paid a debt He didn't owe, I owed a debt I couldn't pay. . ." and it teaches our children that the Blood of Jesus is equal to our sin. There is no equation here - His Blood is so much greater than my sin, and his grace is so far-reaching - in this life we will not even have the capacity to grasp it! When I realize the enormity of His love and condescension I am overwhelmed, even though my little pea brain can't take hold of the comparison. The gospel is simple - He didn't just bail me out! He shed His Blood - the most valuable and precious element, and then gave me sonship. Furthermore, He planted his own life in me and carefully protects that life. What amazing love - far, far, beyond even eternal jail-bail! |
