Where is your
fire power? Well, isn't it consoling to know that it doesn't come from you? While it is true that deliberate sin quenches all effectiveness and activity of the Holy Spirit, even with confession and repentance, we are not perfect. Fire power comes from the presence of God - not your perfection of performance. The Lord has work to do, and He is looking for a willing vessel. The one who is used will not feel special because there is only One who is Holy and special - we all know that. Yet, we often fall into the trap of thinking we can't be used until we feel usable. That is a lie of the enemy, and we must watch for it. If I fall prey to that particular trap, it will cause me to become introspective, and I am not qualified for self-examination, and furthermore, there is not time to stop for that kind of investigtion. When I pray each day and interceed for others, I must first enter into the Throne Room. Then I must announce my purpose. I must ask if there is any confession to be made, and then I must give a report. I then acknowledge where I am and why I am there. After that, I proceed with the things that must be dealt with, and while I always request a deeper work of the Spirit and more burning away of the things not useful, I must be far more concerned with others. The real fire power? It comes from accurate prayer according to the Word of God, and I never feel the big bang. There are many today who will tell the new Christian that he must experience the big bang, but I am here to tell you that is a lie from the pit. And the Soldier of the Cross is not allowed that! I am just the donkey through whom He will speak. Of course, I am an adopted son and a member of a Royal Race. But the Bible teaches that my job here is to obey one minute at a time. When I get to heaven,. I will be allowed to look back and see many dimensions of what God has done. In the meantime, if I look for them now, I will turn into a pillar of salt. And television today is quick to bring you much programming, featuring pillars of salt. Don't forget -there is no force like love. |
