The Lord
intends to have us learn Him, not just learn about
Him.
The preciousness in knowing the
Lord is found by the Soldier of the Cross who is willing to pursue
the same goal no matter the seeming obstacles - the goal of being
with Jesus.
This pursuit takes its toll - especially
on the flesh. It means all that is dear to the flesh must go
- it can be scraped off, dropped, or divinely surgically removed.
The bottom line is, it must go. The flesh must die.
So, if you take even a glance
at the believing world today, you see intense efforts to educate
people about God. While I take no issue with knowledge and always
encourage study, most Christians will go to either knowledge
or stimulation before they will go to Jesus.
He can only be supernaturally learned.
The brain cannot access Him nor things of Him. Knowledge can't
touch His sensitivity or personality or breathless love for us.
And so, it is safe to say, most
Christians have little ongoing personal experience with God.
What does it take?
A fresh start each day.
Lord Jesus, I know for sure I want to recognize you and be with
you. I know for sure I need to come to you and ask you to take
my hand and lead me to yourself today.
So much do I love to be with those
who love you beyond all else. There is nothing that comes close
for me - nothing. So Lord, please do whatever must be done in
me to make your own likeness in me.
Teach me to be with you. Teach
me to come to knowledge through you instead of trying to find
you through knowledge.
Should you come today Lord, please
do the work in me that would allow me the privilege of being
found looking up, watching for your coming. |
