I am often asked
"Why can't I hear from the Lord? " Yes, He did say ". . .Call unto me and I will answer. . ." but the believer must look for the Lord in whatever way the Lord chooses to reveal Himself or respond. We usually have concepts that are based on how we think things should be or based on limited experience. What we know is, He will surely answer. He answers by letting us see where He is or isn't, and He answers by directing our words in prayer. He answers by closing doors, not just opening them. He answers often by the most unexpected and seemingly unpleasant events, but if we had only been looking desperately for Him instead of the answer, we would have seen Him quite clearly. We are looking for relief. He is looking for intimacy. He has said to us that we must choose the things that He loves and leave off the things that He hates. He went through a lot for us - He is not hiding behind things or covering His mouth when answering. We must expect Him. Deliverance does not come apart from the Deliverer and unfortunately, most of us are only looking for the feeling of nose-above-water. But He is listening. And He has already done something. He is a jealous God and longs for our undivided attention. Those who continue to pray to see and recognize the Lord will always hear, and will always recognize Him. |
