Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Take the hand of the one with whom you are speaking, and ask him or her if you can help in receiving Christ.
Most people need help. they need to have someone take a hand, hold it, and help them pray. They are being led over the Jordan.
I will never forget Ginney Jones.
Ginney was an attractive woman about fifty-five. She was the wife of a wealthy and successful man and she had Alzheimer's disease.
I had known Ginney for several months because she was a resident in the nursing home where we go every Sunday afternoon. Sunday after Sunday, I would ask her, "Ginney, would you like to invite Jesus to be your Lord today?"
And, each time, she would be angry. Sometimes she would say. "I'm no baby!" Other times she would say, " My mother told me about those things!"
But one day when I was hurting really badly, I went to the nursing home to read some Psalms to the believers, and I saw Ginney.
She was holding some toilet paper, and she was telling me that it was a collection of important documents that had to be mailed to her doctor. I agreed to mail them and then asked her if she would like to receive Christ.
After all the weeks of hot "no", she looked at me and then said "All right! What will He do for me?" she asked.
"He will take away your fear." I said.
And although I meant to help her pray, she grabbed my hand and began to pray in the most lucid manner I have heard. she said " Oh Jesus, my new friend, (then she turned to me and said "what is your name?") Ardith has convinced me that I need to ask you to be in my heart."
Well, of course when she said that, I almost fainted. But that wasn't all.
She went on to say, "Please come into my heart and be my God. and I want you to take away my fear."
She went on to thank Him, and it was clear to me that she was having a genuine interaction with the Living Lord.
In the several months that she lived after that, when we went to see her, she would say "I don't remember why, but I know that I love you." She did not even recognize or acknowledge her own family. The staff told us that she became incredibly helpful and positive.
Just before she died, I went in to see her, and told her that we would go for a walk in heaven. She agreed that was a good idea.
     Rescue.
     It is about rescue.
You don't feel like it? It doesn't matter. When we are in heaven, you will be mighty glad you took the hand and asked if you could pray with him or her.
     You never know!
