Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Physical pain has its own unique dominating quality.
Amy Carmichael was no stranger to pain, and wrote a great deal about it.
One of the most difficult things for the believer to deal with when pain is a daily presence, is that God does not always want us to be delivered from the things that seem unbearable.
     He wants us for Himself.
Those of us who have not had chronic pain have no idea what it is like. We can only identify with pain that has ended in relief.
The Great Physician wants eternal healing and it an insensitive and immature Christian who will announce why the Lord is not healing someone.
My own life has been deeply influenced by the writings of Amy Carmichael. The women around me have been driven to the real meaning of the Cross as the Holy Spirit has used the writings of Amy Carmichael.
The Lord has answered the prayers of many who have sought and pressed prayerfully for intimacy with Him by leading them to the writings of Amy Carmichael.
Her most powerful books and poems were written during her almost twenty years of pain and invalid existence. She writes "My songbird hath a broken wing. . ." and proceeds from candor to the most intense of yielding to the sovereignty of God.
One does not get accustomed to physical pain. It does not wear out with time or lessen when distracted.
If you are the hurting one today, take heart. The angels are watching and time is short. It is just as easy to guard your tongue and minister to others as it is to talk about and focus on yourself.
He never gets tired of hearing you report to Him. He may or may not have plans to heal you, but in the meantime, assertively and actively love those around you and minister grace to those who simply don't understand.
The One who has counted every hair and collected each tear knows and understands.
