An impulsive
Soldier is never a wise Soldier. Conversely, one who is rigid and must always stick to the plan will resist the Holy Spirit with the same rigidity. Often money is given in sentimental response to pleading, sweet things are said to relieve the moment, and for the price of a few seconds of control, the tongue blurts out foolishness in an attempt to snip a loose end or balance out something that seems unresolved by sight. The Holys Spirit is never impulsive - He simply doesn't disclose things ahead of time. We who want to be led of the Spirit must learn just that - to be led! that means we do not put God in a box. We do not decide what He can or must do, rather we make our requests known and wait for the next step. There is a huge difference between being impulsive and releasing the tight grip on the predetermined agenda. The first is stong-willed without foundation, and the second is yielding and obedient. Without a doubt we are engaged in a battle. All around there is warfare, but the Soldier of the Cross has stepped across the line and has volunteered for front line duty or back line duty - whatever is the desire of the Commander. This submission happens daily and in prayer - out loud. without this daily ceremony before the Lord, self will begin to coil and strike. The Soldier who does not have to ask the reason will be free from the need to offer an excuse. |
