Music can drive
satan away or it can create a nest for him. Watch the music that sounds in your church and in your home. Music with words is a powerful human force, second only to human love. When believers come together and sing at the top of their lungs, the enemy is driven away. Even without words, it was the sounding of the trumpet and the shouting of the people combined with their obedience, that brought down the walls of Jericho. Not only should we make sure the world's influence does not marinate daily life in the home, but we must also watchdog the music of the Church. There should be not music sung or played just because it is pretty. I have been in many godless churches and heard marvelous music and it means nothing. There must be a real spiritual end - a Holy Spirit drive reason for the music.. In our church we don't have "special music" every Sunday. Quite a few in the church are professional musicians and we sing like jackhammers, but I am thankful that the music played or sung is screened for content before anything else. Music is a language. It is intended do what spoken words can not do - and it does just that. Music in the church and music in the home must serve a purpose far beyond pleasure - it must really glorify the Lord! |
