Although the Bible
says leaders are held to a higher standard, they are not more
important than the youngest believer or the most behind-the scene
member of the assembly. As the Psalmist puts it, we are to seek to become and to delight to be pillars in the House of the Lord. It is easy to mistakenly assume the brightest, the most charismatic, the most learned or the most experienced Christians are the ones best used. That is simply not true. Not one of those is a virtue, and not one leads to holiness. He specializes in taking what is available and feeding the multitude. He doesn't need "enough." He only needs availability. His physical presence on earth is the Body of Christ. We must present ourselves ongoingly to serve and minister and feeling equipped or capable is not the issue. Obedience is the issue. Love is the issue. Being a living sacrifice is the issue. |
