There is a skill
to be developed in praying about problems. Many Christians go to the Lord and ask for the thing that they can see would be a possible acceptable solution to a problem. In fact this is almost always what happens. Reality is, it is praying amiss and is often more limiting than powerful. Remember, the Word gives beautiful guidelines. One of them is that our God is a Rescuer, another that He is a High Tower, another that He is our Fortress, and there are many more. A rescuer is someone who comes along and does more than we can do. He is not someone in our own position who has the same angle of sight - the very fact that he is in a different position is one of the qualifying factors that makes him a rescuer. Such is the case with the Lord. He is able to do so much more than we could ever ask, and we must approach these things in prayer with that in mind. In the case of something that is so complex that the fallout will be unbearably awkward, you can't go to the Lord in prayer, describing the dissection and rebuilding and then bringing-to-life-again process. You must acknowledge that there is a situation no human can solve and then ask Him to solve it. Chances are, it may have gotten to this point because of a believer's sin or passivity. In that case, it will always seem that the wolf is running away with the lamb in its mouth. But, we serve a Savior, and nothing is any worse than the day we cried out to Him and asked Him to rescue our lives. We still need to cry out in that same helpless way - not a now bossy way. We must always be reminded that He came as a babe because He entered our world in order to save us, and He still remains with us today - to set things right according to Holy Spirit led prayer! |
