Why does faith
feel so risky? Because it means death to the flesh. God does not lead us by a mixture of faith and sight. The flaw of youth so earnestly and desperately wanting to know "God's will" is that it sounds and feels like a question of faith, but it is really a longing to know what the future holds. That way, he can begin laying out the tracks not for what is to come and there is no need to live each day by faith. In fact, when God leads His own, He may give a broad vision but often He will lead as He did Moses - tell Him to move out and then after the move, tell Him where to go next. The real truth is, we are not really sure God can be trusted and that He is attending to us and our concerns. If we did, we would hurl ourselves into the flow of faith with all our might and we would shrink in horror at the pitfalls of walking by sight. God has not presented us with a principle, He has presented us with a frontier of treasure. Soldier, pick up and move out! |
