We never tire
of the basics - when they are presented by the Holy Spirit. I have never met a real Christian who tired of hearing someone's testimony, or could not be stirred by stories of faith. And, it seems that we always need the simple things - the things that children sing about - the Jesus Loves Me sorts of things. I am not sure what sophistication is, but I know it does not describe our God. It is a human idea of "above the crowd", and we are so prone to fall into it when it comes to teaching, "sacred" music, and a regular church service. I find when the Holy Spirit speaks, He is not hard to understand, and the youngest listener know what has been spoken about. We always need the basics: we are loved; we must obey; the world is lost; He owns the cattle on a thousand hills; He is coming for us; sin is nasty; we have a real enemy and have been told how to deal with him. . . These messages are basic and the sweetest thing is, He never tires of telling us. When He is allowed, He always challenges, stimulates and energizes by showing us Himself - not lofty things no one has ever heard before. When the hidden things are exposed they are evident and it doesn't take smarts or education to see them - just spiritual eyes. In an era when so many are getting so fancy, let's just look for Jesus! |
