When we are
looking for the Lord, we must look for Him and not
just for things He will do. That means He can be recognized by His Presence, His personality, His influence, His having opened the way, and His tender second-by-second leading. So much of the time we try to follow the Lord by looking for a trail of crumbs or red flares. He simply doesn't operate that way. The believer who does not spend time with Him will not recognize Him under any circumstances, and is likely to be taken in by a fraudulent enemy! The Soldier of the Cross must know and want the Lord Jesus! He must enjoy the infinitely many things about Him that only a vigilant and eager sentry would sense. He does not hide and He does not play games. At the same time, He isn't cheap, and He is only seen and recognized by those who have decided to step away from the crowd and "wait for, hope for and trust in Him." |
