Don't forget
- the pull of the world never gets weaker. What happens to the Soldier of the Cross is simply that the pull of heaven gets stronger. There are always reasons to take a break from service, from tithing, or from encouraging others. The problem is, time is short, and heaven is more real than the things we can see and touch around us. Have you had people around you tell you lately you "must take time for yourself?" Poppycock! You must take time to be alone and pray and read and memorize the Word. But while there is nothing wrong with a vacation, there is something wrong with stepping away from service in order to self-protect. What is there to be protected? I have found that those who are filled with the Lord are the first to go the extra mile. They put their children on their backs and out the door they go! They are invigorated and gain tremendous satisfaction from the way their time is spent. Think of Praying Hyde. He died very young and probably because of sleep deprivation. But in heaven there will be thousands and thousands of saints who will rush forward tearfully and thank him for not "taking time for himself." He would not sleep at night until he had led to the Lord the number of souls he had asked for in the morning. We could go on and name many. David Livingston really meant it when he said "Lord, give me Africa, lest I die!" He died in the wee hours of the morning. In Africa. On his knees. I know this one thing: there is little time left. |
