While the happenings
on the outside may be in turmoil, the inside of the Soldier of
the Cross is stable and even. That is the mark of a Spirit-filled life. Christian stability, like other divine treasures, is rooted in Christian character. It is the result of a flow of obedient choice, and it reflects a consistent, prayerful pressing for the things that are above. The believer who considers others before himself cuts himself free of blindnesses. The believer who guards the quiet time chooses that day whom he will serve. The believer who cherishes the Body of Christ has chosen to live out his days loving the Lord. The believer who waits for the Lord instead of fleeing, is allowed to see God. That believer has paid dearly. He has left it all behind. But he will not regret it - not in this life, and not in the next! |
