You absolutely
must pray outloud when you are alone. Nothing gets done when Christians do their "praying" silently all the time. It is in the formulating of sentences that the soul crosses the line of choice and the prayer outloud is like a rudder that turns the ship into or with the wind. Not much happens when prayer is silent because thoughts disintegrate into wool gathering and there usually no real intercession, no deep pleading, no actual meeting with God - just thinking about it and circling. Find a physical position that speaks of what you are doing. I like to stand and when I do, I have a real sense of standing before him and having an audience with Him. It works for me - you might be different. But there should be a time each day when the whole being is bent into prayer, and without a special dispensation due to circumstances, it is not possible without prayer outloud. Not many do it and at first, you might find a strangely heavy physical resistance. That is only satan. Do it anyway. |
