Run to the
Bible! The Bible has stood the test of time and we will be reviewing it for all eternity. It is still the place to go when there are questions, persecutions, or fears. The Soldier of the Cross must look to the Word of God for direction and assurance, and must resist talking to numerous people and taking an average of the advice. We pray, and we open the Book! I know and have read accounts of missionaries and other Christian servants who have taken direct leading when they have gone to the Word, looking for specific guidance in critical matters. After all, His name is The Word, and He will speak to us when we go to Him. Yes, He speaks through other Soldiers, but He speaks most often through The Word. I am not talking about opening the Bible with eyes squinted closed, then placing a finger on a verse and trying to make that verse the answer. I am talking about meeting with Him in prayer and then going to the Word and reading until He clearly speaks. It is the way God deals with his servants, and you seldom hear it today. Christians who are taught to sing the same words over and over and who have left behind the Cross and the memorization of God's word have no capacity to hear the Holy Spirit in this way because He is quenched by all that is artificial. But when the Soldier stands before Him and begs for guidance, He is quick to respond, and in writing! |
