It is the nature
of fallen man to be independent. It is not good, but it is natural. And it is something that the Lord addresses often in the Word. Oh, how we want to work things out ourselves. We say many of the right things, but we flop and writhe, all the while straining to think of a way to solve the problem without the Lord. Even when we plead with Him and actually know that He is listening, the flesh still tugs and whimpers to have its way. Soldier, He created us to depend on Him, and there is no other way. In fact, that is the only way we can see Him, know Him, and delve into the treasures that are stored up in Him. In America, we have many, many Christian bookstores and on most shelves are rows of books that offer self-help - ways around the Cross. They would educate the believer to behave according to formula and offer protection against any breach in the Christian's security. I am here to tell you that there is no way but Faith! Look away from all that would distract, and speak honestly to the Lover of Your Soul. He will turn your sight away from the gash and into His amazing face. There isn't anything hard for Him. Not even the thing before you! |
