What a treasure
the Lord has given in allowing us to experience enjoyment. It is easy to miss many things and happenings that come our way - we are so set on what is good and what must be, that we often miss the sweet pleasures the Lord has for us. Like children, for example. Tonight as I was putting together a glass yarn case in our new and large store, my husband and my eleven year old granddaughter were teamed up to do a remarkable project. An old restaurant hood needed to be sealed in, and it required two men who knew what they were doing. But there were only Bill and Stacey. I could hear my husband telling Stacey what to do, and when I looked over, she had the drill (at a precarious angle) and my husband was tenderly helping her, but in such a way that she was managing exceptionally well, and was responding skillfully. I was aware that time was short and that one little slip of that drill could mean some serious problems. We were all tired, there was little time, and the project was particularly crucial. But I enjoyed it so much. I chose to put away the list of "buts" that immediately formed and just sat back and watched with pleasure. I love my grandchildren and I take the responsibility seriously before the Lord. I know the Lord enjoys our response to Him, and if we allow Him, He will show us the things around us that Love has provided. Striving is only good if it is to "enter into the rest." The other times, it keeps us from tasting the pleasure, sweetness, and victory at His Right Hand. |
